Uncirculated 2022 $1 American Innovation Kentucky - Bluegrass Coin, Roll of 25

The United States Mint's American Innovation $1 Coin Program is a multi-year series that honors innovation and innovators with $1 coins from each State, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands. The 2022 American Innovation Kentucky - Bluegrass - $1 Coin Roll of 25 Dollar Coins recognizes the invention of bluegrass music.

The obverse (heads) design features a dramatic representation of the Statue of Liberty in profile, accompanied by a privy mark of a stylized gear, representing industry and innovation. The reverse (tails) design features a banjo, an important bluegrass instrument, tilted to one side, alluding to the rhythm and movement of the music. Inscriptions on the reverse include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "BLUEGRASS," and "KENTUCKY."

Bluegrass has roots in traditional English, Scottish, and Irish ballads and dance tunes, as well as in traditional African American blues and jazz. The American Innovation $1 Coin representing Kentucky acknowledges this unique and influential musical genre.
